Vegas

When we found out that Jeff’s work was giving him the day off after Thanksgiving, we had to take advantage of it! We racked our brains and decided to spend the holiday weekend in Vegas, just the two of us.

On the drive down we stopped in Mesquite for a $4.99 Prime Rib Thanksgiving dinner. I must say.. not as good as the Layton feast the Sunday before.

It was cool to see the night lights as we arrived in the big city. We stayed in a Hampton Inn about 15 minutes south of downtown Vegas. We enjoyed being away from the craziness of the Strip in a nice part of town. Our room was awesome. Very spacious with everything we needed to make it a home away from home. We were especially impressed with the rotating TV.

The best part of the vacation was spending some needed, care-free time together where we could goof off and not worry about the toils of daily life. But we also got out and saw a few things.

The Las Vegas temple is so beautiful inside and out. Can you spot Jeff in the second picture? :)

Friday night we went to the Phantom of the Opera in the Venetian Theatre. It was great! Even though the story line is well known, there were a lot of surprises and tricks that kept us guessing. It was fantastic!
After the show, we watched the Mirage volcano show and then got sucked into the Ghirardelli shop on the strip for some Sundaes. So so good.
Saturday we ventured out to Hoover Dam. It is sooo big and interesting!
Later we walked the strip and found ourselves in M&M World. That place was insanely packed with people! And we got lost trying to find our way out! Ha ha.. it was crazy!
Another highlight was the fountain show and dinner at the Bellagio. The buffet there was highly recommended to us, so we decided to splurge. It was well worth every penny! Oh my heck. I was all over the top sirloin, this Asian noodle stuff, and dessert bar. I want to go back. We had tons of fun! The weather was great!! Time went too fast. Now it is back to the regular grind... :)

Rivalry

A quick post in honor of rivalry week.

Jeff and I were able to go to a BYU basketball game down in Provo the other week. We had a good time and BYU dominated Idaho State. This year I've found myself getting more involved in the spirit of the rivalry. I'll always cheer on my Aggies, but BYU is starting to find a place in my heart as crazy as that may sound.

Rivalry week brings out the unexpected. As we went out to pack up our car this morning, this is what we found:
Needless to say, our departure was a little delayed due to an emergency car wash and detail. We also couldn't leave town without making a small statement of our own. I reverted back to my college pranking days and remembered how to make a turkey out of feminine hygiene products (some of you may remember Tommy,.. ha ha!?!). It was quick and easy.
Once we hit the road it wasn't long until we passed Provo.
We wish BYU the best this weekend!!! If we're lucky, we'll be able to watch the game somewhere down in Vegas!

Pumpkin Pie

Friday I felt like shouting Hallelujah when the clock struck 5:30pm. I don't know if a weekend has been more anticipated. It's been several months (since end of Aug?) since Jeff has had a Saturday off. It was a busy weekend and we spent most of our time with family. Yesterday we had a delicious Thanksgiving feast with Jeff's family. They were super nice to work around our schedule and celebrate early!

I had to post this picture. When Jeff was 7-8 years old he ate an entire pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. I don't think that story will ever get old!

We're heading out of town in a few short days to spend some much anticipated time together in Vegas. Yipeee. I hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving!
